Ammo Pouch

From WoWWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Ammo Pouches are a type of ammo bag. They contain stacks of ammo (shot or bullets used by gun-wielders (as opposed to quivers, which contain stacks of arrows used by bow-wielders and crossbow-wielders).

On its icon on the action bar where the ammo pouch is equipped, an ammo pouch will display the total number of the bullets that the ammo pouch holds (the number of shots remaining), up to three digits (999). These do not have to be the same type of bullet, but each slot in the ammo pouch will hold only one kind of bullet. When the number of shots remaining exceeds 1000 (five full stacks of bullets), the number is not displayed.

When the currently equipped stack of bullets runs out of bullets an ammo pouch will automatically re-equip another stack of the same type of bullet, if one exists in the ammo pouch. This way the player will not have to worry about reloading; simply placing several stacks of the same bullets in the ammo pouch. It is advisable to not mix kinds of bullets in a ammo pouch in order to avoid having shooting occasionally halt, waiting for a manual reload.

Ammo pouches provide a rate of fire bonus, from 10 percent for low level ammo pouches to 15 percent to high level ammo pouches.

An ammo pouch primarily is of benefit to a hunter. Any character can buy and equip an ammo pouch in a bag slot. Any character can buy and carry bullets and can use the ammo pouch to store the bullets. Only hunters, rogues, and warriors can use or train to use guns which fire bullets. The roles and mechanics of rogues and warriors do not use large quantities of bullets; lacking the hunter's autoshoot capability, manually firing each shot, having no special abilities that require shooting, primarily shooting (or throwing, rather than shooting) to pull a mob and doing the bulk of the damage through melee, often using stealth or a charge rather than shooting to engage an opponent; thus they generally forgo an ammo bag and the rate of fire bonus (which is largely overridden by the manual fire process) in favor of one or two stacks of ammo in a general purpose bag. So only a hunter has the need for the ability of the ammo pouch to feed a large quantity of bullets to the ammo slot and has the autoshot that fully takes advantage of the rate of fire bonus.

A shooter can use more than one ammo pouch, but will find that this is unnecessary and that they need the bag slots for normal bags.
